Just another wet day
Hi Folks, Ran the boat yesterday morning with a client chasing bass. Rained again and we received enough rain yesterday to blow out our rivers for several days. The lack of snow this winter is being made up for this summer with tons of precipitation. It was inevitable after a dry month period that mother nature would catch up with us with the rain fall. WInter was deceiving with the snow pack because it never warmed up so the snow hung around. We did not receive above average snow fall this season regardless of the inflated snow reporting by ski resorts. Anyway, surface temperature on the lake was 68 degrees with a slight south west wind and steady rain for half the morning. We worked for fish but did manage to land 6 largemouth and smallmouth. All between 14" to 16" with one little guy in the mix. No top water bite even though the light was low and calm to start the day. We landed fish with a fire tiger jointed rebel stick bait and a the incredible edible 4" and 5" Senko. We focused on sharp drop offs with weed beds. the fish all seemed to be holding on the out side edges of the weed beds in the deeper water. We did get broke off by one pike and had another fairly large fish chase a fire tiger spinner bait the was covered in weeds. Challenging fishing that took patience and focus. Always a good idea to slow down the approach when the fish are nott exactly jumping on every cast. However, not a bad morning all things considered. I am blown out today so will be small stream fishing tomorrow for trout with guests. Remember to clean your gear and keep the non-native species at home. Have Fun, Willy
